Morning Star Higher Secondary School, Gudalur, celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day on 15 August 2026 with great patriotic spirit and enthusiasm. The celebration began with the flag hoisting, followed by inspiring patriotic songs and dances.
The highlight of the programme was the Housewise Ethnic Dance Competition, where students from different houses presented vibrant performances showcasing the rich cultural heritage and unity of India. The competition reflected creativity, teamwork and cultural pride. The programme concluded with the prize distribution, celebrating the achievements of the students and houses.
The presence of our Chief Guest, Subedar Jalan P. S., MRC, Indian Army, and Guest of Honour, Ms. Uma Bhattachiripad K, added great dignity and inspiration to the celebration.

Independence Day Quiz Competition
As part of the Independence Day celebrations, a quiz competition was conducted for the students. The competition aimed to enhance students’ knowledge of India’s history, freedom struggle, national leaders, culture, and achievements.
The quiz was conducted as a house-wise competition, with all four houses participating enthusiastically.
Ms. Aleesha from Kozhikode served as the Quiz Master and conducted the rounds in an engaging and systematic manner.
The participants displayed good knowledge, confidence, teamwork, and a healthy spirit of competition. The event was informative and enjoyable, adding academic value to the Independence Day celebrations.
The competition concluded successfully with active participation from all four houses.

Gudalur, 11 August 2026: In consonance with the directive issued by the Government of Tamil Nadu, Morning Star Hr.Sec.School Gudalur, observed *Drug Awareness Day on 11 August* with profound earnestness and unwavering commitment. The programme was organised to fortify students against the pernicious menace of substance abuse and to instil an enduring sense of responsibility towards a drug-free society.

The observance commenced with a *solemn anti-drug pledge,* administered in the school assembly. Students stood in disciplined unison and reiterated the pledge with conviction, affirming their determination to abstain from narcotic substances and to become vigilant ambassadors of awareness within their families and communities. The atmosphere was imbued with sobriety and patriotic fervour as the collective oath echoed across the campus.
